Join nationally renowned artist, Alan Shuptrine, for a 3-day comprehensive watercolor workshop, and delve into the beautiful live oak trees and Spanish moss of the low country. Learn how to embellish your Low Country landscapes with dramatic light and shadow, using wet-in-wet, wet-on-dry, and drybrush techniques.

Each day, from 10-4pm, Shuptrine will teach specific watercolor techniques in the small group atmosphere, along with providing individual guidance. A supply list will be sent to participants, along with a tentative preliminary sketch in early March. On Day 1, enjoy coffee and a brief stroll (weather permitting) with Alan, through canopies of Spanish moss covered live oaks within Palmetto Bluff, experiencing and observing the live oaks. Special attention will be paid to the characteristics of dark vs light, as well as the temperature of both light and shadows, and the texture found within. Shuptrine’s instruction will increase your technical ability and confidence to work with this beautiful medium and create your own strong masterpiece.
